DFA employees strive to Be More

Written by Brian Bosiljevac

Dairy Farmers of America employees have a reputation for being dedicated. Each year, the Cooperative recognizes employees who go above and beyond with the Be More Awards. Employees throughout DFA have an opportunity to nominate co-workers for a Be More Award, which honors employees who excel in the Cooperative’s core values of integrity, accountability, passion, quality, innovation and community.

Learn more about this year’s winners who were recently recognized in front of their peers at DFA’s Team Development Conference in New Orleans, La.

Thomas Beighley, purchasing specialist
Beighley stepped up to the plate after departures by the engineer manager and maintenance manager to enable our Ventura, Calif., facility to continue to operate without skipping a beat.

“I believe that the core values are in place as a guideline to help all of us make good decisions in our jobs and ultimately to ensure that we are making a high-quality and safe product.  Knowing that my family and friends are consumers of the product that we manufacture makes me want to do my part to ensure that we are making the best product that we can.”

Jennifer Collins, brand manager
Collins rose to the challenge when asked to take a lead role during a high-stakes project this past year. The quality of her work included providing clarity of meeting objectives, deliverables and delegating responsibility when action was required.

“I really enjoy being part of a team that works every day to make a difference for our members, customers and consumers. No day is the same but every day, we work toward the same goal. I love that I am surrounded by so many intelligent people that have so much to offer the cooperative.”

Rob Frederick, service desk analyst
Frederick has helped the SAP security team on several occasions when the SAP team was working through high-ticket volume after adding new plants to the SAP system.

“DFA farm families aren’t just stakeholders looking for dividends at the end of each quarter, but families who deserve our commitment. They place their trust in us and we shoulder the responsibility to provide them the best of our ability. It’s a heavy responsibility and honor to support our farm families.”

Bob Gehlke, plant manager
Gehlke has invested over 40 years of dedicated service to DFA as a division account manager and plant manager at our Goshen, Ind., facility. In both roles, he has exemplified a commitment to the plant and to all the employees who work there.
