June Dairy Month celebrations in full swing

Written by Emily Battmer

In celebration of June Dairy Month, DFA locations across the country have again come together to live our core value of community.

Many DFA members and employees have already participated in fundraising efforts, volunteer events and other activities to promote the industry and help provide nutritious dairy and food products to families in need.

To kick off the festivities, employees at DFA’s Kansas City, Mo., headquarters celebrated June 1 with lunch from the Taco Republic Truck. Employees could order tacos from the visiting food truck in exchange for free-will donations to DFA Cares Foundation’s virtual milk drive. The event raised a total of more than $1,800.

Other DFA locations joined in the celebration with their own events. The Mideast Area marked the start of the month with an ice cream party and commenced their annual Great American Milk Drive competition, challenging teams of employees to donate to DFA’s virtual milk drive for a chance to win lunch from a local restaurant. Mideast employees have also participated in a cheese sculpting contest, volunteer opportunities and a yogurt bar. Upcoming events include a recipe contest and an afternoon of fun on an employee’s dairy farm.

DFA leadership has also gotten involved, with Board Directors contributing $12,600 at the June Board Meeting. This brings the total amount raised $16,840, with two weeks left to collect additional donations.

All of the money raised by DFA Cares Foundation this month will benefit The Great American Milk Drive, a fundraising effort to provide milk to Feeding America food banks nationwide. DFA Cares is matching every contribution made this month, dollar for dollar.
