DFA Cares Foundation contributed nearly $5,000 to the Great American Milk Drive, after a Cooperative-wide virtual milk drive was held in recognition of June Dairy Month.

A total of $2,470 was raised through contributions from members, employees and others, and DFA Cares contributed a matching amount.

The Great American Milk Drive, a joint effort among the National Dairy Council, MilkPEP and Feeding America, raised funds to provide milk to food banks throughout the country. Feeding America is a nationwide network of more than 200 food banks that leads the fight against hunger.

Milk is one of the most requested items at food banks, but because most food banks do not have the refrigerated storage space needed, many families go without.

In other June Dairy Month activities, DFA employees and members nationwide logged 202 volunteer hours at Feeding America food banks, resulting in 39,942 meals for those in need.
