5 things I can’t live without:

  1. Family
“I definitely couldn’t live without my wife, Catharina, or my two boys, Jacob and Isaac. My family is very important to me. My son, Isaac, helps on the farm on the crop end and Jacob teaches in New Hampshire.”
  2. Grandkids
“I have three grandkids – Jacob has two girls, one is 3 months and one is 3. Isaac has a son who is 8 months. My grandson is right across the road, and Thursday morning is my morning. The world stops and I get to watch my grandson. It’s great.”
  3. Computer
“I’m an old timer, so I started keeping books manually, but nowadays, it’s gotten so complicated that I don’t think I could do it without a computer. We also get to Skype with our granddaughters on the computer, and I know I wouldn’t want to live without that.”
  4. Farm
“I came onto the farm when I was 15. I don’t think I could imagine being anywhere else. I was lucky to be able to raise my boys on the farm. I think farm life really taught them values and built character.”
  5. Cell phone
“My cell phone is one of those things that I think I’d be OK without until you took it away. It’s a lifesaver one day and the biggest pain the next.”
